Dr. Bhangya Bhukya ‘s much acclaimed book, Subjugated Nomads: The Lambadas under the rule of the Nizams is now brought out in Telugu as Nizam Palanalo Lambadalu.
While tracing the social history of the Lambada community, the book has interesting discussions on the deployment of colonial political rationality, introduction of new market, land enclosure, criminalisation of bodies, rule of property and emergence of a new community consciousness in Hyderabad State.
The book will be released on the occasion and followed by a discussion by
Prof. I. Tirumali of Delhi University,
Prof. Kalpana Kannabiran, Council for Social Development, Hyderabad,
K. Srinivas, Editor Andhra Jyoti and
Tejawath Bellaiah Naik, social activist.
